I am 16 and all of my life I have always eaten meats and junk food. I am at a good average weight but I am starting to think about my health and start early. It should be noted that I hate most vegetables and fruits. They just taste disgusting to me. Bananas are the only fruit I can eat, and I can eat potatoes in terms of vegetables.
I am focusing on pasta (those character shaped kinds you can find at the super market.) I plan to have at least one can a day, since I love pasta and I used to eat it all the time when I was younger. I also have some cheese (Cheeztrings brand for those that know of it), it’s the only kind of cheese I like, but I plan on having one of those one a day aswell.
For breakfast I have a slice of toast and one egg without the yolk, plus chocolate milk (quik brand) to drink. During school, for recess I eat one chocolate granola bar and dinner I eat either two pizza slices or sometimes chicken. Then the rest is random. What foods do you recommend for health daily?
Also I don’t excerise.
That sucks since I already ended up buying 12 cans of pasta..
How would this go though, daily?
Breakfast: Yolkless egg and one slice of buttered toast, chocolate milk drink.
School: Chocolate granola bar and 2 pizza slices, plus fruit juice as a drink
Home: 1 cheese stick (snack)
1 can of pasta (lunch)
1 Banana (lunch)
How is that?
Oh yeah, and fruit juice or water to drink at home.
Best Answer: I recommend trying the fruits you say you dislike again. Our tastes change over time and you may find some you actually like now.
A great pasta to try is Barilla Plus. It is loaded with protein (for muscle), Fiber(neccessary for any good diet) and some vitamens and minerals. Also, you may notice that it is darker in color - this is because it is made with whole wheat flour.
The most important thing to me in my diet, is that I eat as little processed food as possible. Learn to check your labels for the ingredients. I only buy fresh bread that doesn't used enriched or bleach flour. whole wheat is your friend!
Pizza is not too bad - but only in moderation. the combination of dairy, veggies and grain is actually pretty good. but if you are eating take out pizza, the chances are higher for more fat and grease thatn beneficial nutrition. So try making your own pizzas from dough you can get at the local bakery and fresh tomatoes and cheese. You can make an excellent tomato sauce very easily with some garlic, oinion and basil with some tomatoes you crush or use a food processor on. Check online for some recipes. By cooking for yourself in a way that makes you feel better, you will learn to love it.
Chicken and fish should be staples in your healthy diet - but not cooked in grease or fat. moderation is key there. Learn to steam fish and cook your chicken in a skillet with some lemon or lime juice and a tiny bit of oil. add some whole wheat pasta and your golden!
allright. To make this long post shorter - the name of the game for me is learning to cook healthy rather than buy ready to eat foods. the only exception is fresh fruits and veggies.
If you can manage your portions and keep a well rounded diet (don't eat the same stuff everyday!) you will be good. Definately try to incorperate some veggies and fruits in even if they are not whole. juice and sauces are grewat ways to incorperate them.
Good luck! and congrats on being well before your time with health... but if you do not 'excercise' and don't like fruits or veggies...you are going to be hardpressed to qualify your routine as healthy

Canned pasta is packed with sodium, I’d suggest just buying a good healthy bottled sauce and dry pasta. Or make your own sauce if you’re up to it. Tomato sauce is very healthy if it’s made right (not too much salt)
You should be eating greens like spinach, lots of bright coloured veggies, like tomatoes and carrots and limiting your sugar salt and saturated fat intake.
If you try some different methods of cooking your veggies, you’ll probably find something you like. You need to eat fruits and vegetables to be healthy, there’s not much way around this.

you need to speak to a dietitian, they will set you up with something that’s just right for you
Why are your parents letting you eat that way?
Without fruits and vegetables, you cannot have a healthy diet.
You also need to avoid processed foods (pasta in a can, pizza, etc.)
Don’t even bother.
You know, if you start with a fast, water or juice, for about a week or however long you decide, you will start to crave healthy foods. For reals, all of a sudden eating a mango will seem like the best thing in the world. If you want to be healthy, there is NO way around fruits and vegtables. You may lose weight, but health is not measured in weight. To preform all it’s amazing functions, the body needs the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, etc. from RAW fruits and vegtables. Organic is best, you don’t get all the harmful pestitsides. Do the research. Avoid fad diets and reach for a life long healthy lifestyle.
