I’m due in 9 days, I’m 80% effaced, 1cm dilated, and baby’s at -2. I could go at any day now, but we had this nasty heat wave over the last week which made my allergies go nuts, and now I’m feeling lousy with a sinus infection and sore throat and a little bit of a cough, too.
I’m terrified that I will have to go through labor and delivery sick, and then the first thing I will do is get my brand new fragile little daughter sick! I would feel like the worst mom in the world!
I’m really resting a lot and trying to get better, but I don’t tend to get better from this stuff too fast.
Anyone ever been through this? Did it greatly affect your L&D process? Did your baby catch whatever you had?

My mom had pnuemonia once when she gave birth. She almost died but the baby did not catch it and she had him naturally with no epideral and her delivery went smooth
I had a head cold that turned into bronchitis the day before my water broke. I was miserable pregnant, and to add the snotting, sneezing, and coughing on top of it. . . I had tested positive for group b strep, so once I got to the hospital they put me on IV antibiotics. I don’t really think being sick affected my labor though, once the contractions started I didn’t even think about being sick. I was in labor for 34 hours, on antibiotics the whole time, so by the time it was all said and done (I had a c-section), I wasn’t sick anymore.
when my aunt had her baby she had a cough..i guess congestion for 3 weeks..the doctors said she coughed her baby out lol..she was induced so she could get better..they could not give her the med she needed while pregnant..anyways her mother lives with her and she had broncidus at the time and her 3 yr old son was just getting over the flu…it was a terrible time to be induced but it had to be done they really did not get in the baby’s face any and now she is about 6 weeks old and never been sick yet thanks the lord..lol
Maybe the hospital could give you some “masks” to wear around your baby. Also you may feel better after delivery.Pregnancy tends to amplify any sickness.
