I am getting married in March and was wondering how early I need to start on birth control and which is the most safest one out there ( I kinda used to be against birth control). We are planning on having kids in about 2-3 years. Thanks!!
Best Answer: You should start at least a week before you want to be protected by it.....and since you are supposed to start based off your period, would be best to start at least the month before. However there is no reason that you cant start now.First couple months can feel kinda off as you adjust to being on the pill, and if the first that you try doesnt work out well for you, then you have time two switch. Im on yaz and love it.....i have a good friend that was constanly nausious on it and lost a lot of weight in her 2 months on it before she switched. Would be better to deal with that now, then over your honeymoon and first couple months of being married.Plus if you are already on it,and know when in the pack to expect your period (everyone is a little different....should at some point durning the inert week that it starts, and going into the new pack) you probably can skip the inert week if it happens to end up that your peirod will fall around the time of your wedding and honeymoon and then you wont have to deal with that then.So pretty much, you dont have to until your last period thats more then a week before you want to be protected.....but the sooner, probably the better

I’m not sure what’s the safest. Personally, I like the pill because you can start or stop it at any time and switch brands if you have any problems, etc. With the shot or an iud you’re kinda stuck with your decision. You should ask your doctor what the safest pill is.
As far as how early – it takes one month for the birth control pill to make you fully protected, so I’d want to go on it one month before your wedding (I’m guessing you’re waiting til then to have sex). Just make sure you time it so that you’re not on your period for your wedding night.
Good luck and congratulations!
you can start having unprotected sex after the first week of using birth control and you should be fine.i take sprintec but i heard that Yaz is a good pill
