Clinical trials are good for many reasons but it seems you know that already since you listed 2 good reasons in your question – treatment and finances. Some things to consider:
Who referred this lab to you? If it was your MD, then you can likely consider this a legit referral.
What are the side effects of potential treatment? Consider whether you are willing and able to handle any negative side effects of this treatment since you are a college student and frugal with finances.
When will you be expected to participate? Be sure that your appointments and treatment schedule will not negatively interfere with your school schedule.
I am sorry that I’m not familiar with this lab to give you any info, but good luck with your findings and decision.

The only clinical trials we are familiar with are for cancer research. The best trials are conducted at the major medical facilities (cancer designated centers) and universities.

I am unsure about private companies but can only assume that they must follow strict rules and guidelines to keep you safe. In the university and medical setting patients are closely monitored and followed medically for quite some time. Not sure what happens in a private setting.
Good luck.
