Every night I am binge eating and is causing my heartburn gerd to get worse. I am also really anxious during the day. Strange feelings of numbness in the head occur in the morning and night. Weird symptoms all together Going to doc on Wed, what should I do in terms of medicine?
err I meant valium darn typo
Yeah your right, its best to avoid these really strong meds. I have just bought Nyquil and it actually relaxed me for the past few nights, just not sure how safe it is for long term usage. I also take red wine with it. lol
Best Answer: Please, please please do not take Valium or any other drug in its class (Klonopin, Ativan, Serax, Xanax) or any other physically addictive drugs such as barbituates or sleep aids such as Ambien, Lunesta, Sonata, etc.
I'm warning you of these medications because they DO help with anxiety and sleep if you only take them once in a while - however if you take them for more than a few days they stop working and your body needs more and more to get the same effect until you become toxic with the drug.
Withdrawal from these drugs is absolute hell because I am a victim of them and I know this from firsthand experience. The withdrawal is like heroin withdrawal except more dangerous because seizures are a possibility.
OK with that said, I highly recommend taking a strong antihistamine to help you sleep. You can get this over the counter - Dramamine, for motion sickness, is an antihistamine, makes you sleep. Vistaril/atarax is even stronger than Dramamine.
Low dose antidepressants such as Remeron or Trazodone will knock you out cold as well, but Remeron will make you very hungry so I wouldn't recommend it in your case.
Antihistamines are not physically addictive but can lose effectiveness so you might have to take the Dramamine for a few weeks and then switch to the Vistaril/atarax back and forth.
