I am sick of the sugar cravings and weight gain, and would like to try alternative medicine or herbal remedies if possible. I am currently taking an anti-depressant and a mood stabilizer (Seroquel), and it seems to help, but the effectiveness is short lived, and then I have to increase the dosage again.
Best Answer: Here is what you need to do.Strict diet. That means eating all fresh foods, no frozen, bagged, canned, or processed.Good protein (meats), fresh vegetables and fruits. Then you need a good liquid vitamin and mineral supplement.I have ADHD and had terrible mood swings. I started using this liquid vitamin and was using 3 bottles a month (3 ozs a day) and my mood swings went away.I got the minerals and vitamins I needed which made me have mood swings. Changing my diet removed the toxins in the foods and increasing the protein made sure my bloodsugar didn't drop. That is the basics for you.

You can treat anything with alternative medicine. You must remember that what is now called “alternative” was and still is main line medicine in many areas, including the western world. Most medical conditions are related to diet and lifestyle, and can be treated in a simple, yet effective way with a visit to a Natural Doctor. It does nat always take medicine from a manufacturer/research firm to make a difference. More often than not, a natural approach is the better and more effective route to follow. The idea is to stop and reverse the ailement, not to treat the symptoms with supressors. An Herbalist can help, but it is best to visit an ND first. You can read plenty on line, and there are plenty of groups you can join freely.
Have you tried Homeopathy? I think it could help you because Homeopathy aims to treat the whole person (meaning all of your symptoms). It will take awhile, but it could help you get off drugs completely and not suffer from bipolar anymore. Find a good Homeopath (try homeopathicdirectory.com) and give it a try. Be well!
