has this worked? i am talking about about at least a half hour of strenuous exercise a day like running for children 7 to 13 (more or less)… depending on the childs ability and age of course.
it would seem like it would work…. particularly before school…
…..anyone?
Best Answer: maybe not making them run before school, but try this: get them on a soccer team or football. theyll have pratice and games to focus on. it worked for me. but then again i wasn't on meds in school, mom refused the teachers request to put me on them, she just got me focused on something (soccer) and later i found i could focus myself in art and drama.

Yes. My brother is ADHD and my mom found it easier to make him bike to and from school with a low sugar NO caffeine diet. Worked awesome.
It works. I have a friend with 2 boys (both teens now) that have adhd and she hated seeing them zombied out on all that stupid medicine. She put them in every sport she could get them in, they were given chores all over the house lowered their sugar intakes more veggies and such. Think about back before every hyper child was diagnosed with adhd, parents were not given drugs for those kids. Those kids made it thru life and so will today’s kids if the parent learns to act like a parent and stop drugging your kids up because you cant handle the stress. You cant handle it stop having kids, simple.

I myself havent had to experience having a child with ADHD but my cousin on the other hand does. She usually gives her son Coffee which gives the complete opposite affect for some one with ADHD . It seems to help calm him. As far as stimulation goes.. He has alot of different activities he does daily to keep him such as music, skatboarding ect. Those tend to keep him happy as well as his emotions in check.
A friend of mine has a son with ADHD and she swears that by removing ALL foods with dyes/food colorings in them, as well as limiting his sugar intake, she has seen a drastic decline in his hyperactivity. She also says that she does have him do some sort of exercise routine before school in the morning.
Caffiene will help – soda or coffee or tea. The adhd meds are speed, they just work diff in children. The caffiene will have a simular effect
Well many good doctors recomend you try this before getting on meds. Not nesarrliy sernous excersie before school then they are to tired. but a regluar routine and teach them to look foward to it. It works for some. Also a change in diet i don’t know what the acceptabel diet is though. Also they still recommend this with the meds so they can give the lowest dose possible.
I don’t have a kid with adhd, but I was just reading a great book that addresses research on this issue:

Every child is different, so what works for one child may not work for another. We tried all of these things before putting our son on medication, but nothing seemed to work. Now he is on medication, in ADDITION to a low sugar/no caffeine diet, and he also does sports and exercise, and seems to do fairly well.
