I am working on a project that relates to addiction to smoking and how a person goes about with breaking this habit. I am not addicted to nicotine, I do not smoke tobacco on a regular basis, and I do not wish to for the purposes of this project. Is there any other way I can simulate the effects of addiction to smoking on a person? I have heard of certain ways to simulate this like running around a track breathing only through a drinking straw. Are there any other ways I can simulate addiction to smoking without actually doing so?
Best Answer: Start smoking a pipe with good pipe tobacco. Pipe smoking is a great and relaxing hobby.

Running around a track breathing through a straw is a BAD idea!
You could:
1. Hyperventilate
2. Pass out
3. Build up a ton of painful lactic acid
4. Have a heart attack
And other things, none of which are good
If you want to simulate nicotine addiction, go buy some nicotine gum, if you want to feel what it feels like to smoke for 30+ years go get a cold and eat at Mcdonalds for a month.
try acting out like when someone gets mad when they run out of cigarettes

DaChiggz, Smoking addiction can be hard to control. Many everyday people have lost jobs, homes, family, and loved ones simply because they could not break thier smoking habits. I recommend you seek some help. I found a site that has addiction information and a directory of addiction treatment clinics so you can help. http://www.addictionselfhelp.com

Can you find someone who is addicted and use them as a lab rat? You could find something you absolutely love to do every day and not do it. That’s pretty close to a nicotine fit in my opinion.
Good luck,
Kevin
