How effective is acupunture for pain management?

I have back pain (I think its from my back pack) and I went to get acupunture for the first time today, I did feel a little better and was able to walk without much pain and the OMD said that over the next 2 days it should get better and better and I have to go back in on Wednesday for my 2nd visit. How effective is acupunture for pain management?

Best Answer: I work in a pain clinic. Our office has acupuncture, chiropratics, and physical therapy. I do see benefits of acupuncture in some patients and in some there is no improvement. I believe it depends on how serious the injury and where. Also, no two people respond to treatments the same. For example if your sister had a injury similar to yours, she might not benefit from acupuncture and you do. I say if it works, do it. Please give it time and dont quit after the first session.
