I’m getting the jab in september and the others later on. But i was just wondering, if you get the jab, does it prevent from getting cervical cancer all together?
Best Answer: No it doesn't prevent all the cervical cancers, only the top 4 HPV virus strains that cause them.It isn't something that you can have and then go thinking "I will never get cervical cancer now"... It just doesn't happen that way. There are a few problems reported with this shot as well and some girls have even died because of it.I would suggest you look at the articles on this and see if its worth it, I know I would want to make sure my daughters were protected if I had any but this would be one thing I would have my doubts about, it is a new drug and a new treatment with very little time to look at what it will do and if it is worth the risk.Hope this helps.

i dont think it stop you from getting it i think it just protects you from getting it , i think you can still get t even if u do get the jab
well i have had them.
they are supposed to have a 20 % less chance of getting cervical cancer.
it felt to me like id been bruised in my arm really bad for about 2 days each time and you cant lift your arm up higher than 90 degrees that was the same for most of my friends then there were like 3 people who were completely fine and were running about and everything then there were 2 people who fainted and had to take some days off school. i know you didnt ask if it would hurt but i was wondering before i got it but seriously the needle doesnt hurt!
The first answerer is right, it only protects against the four most common strains of the HPV virus (Types 6, 11, 16, and 18). Your doctor should explain that to you before she/he gives you the shot. Mine did.
Although I don’t think its really that dangerous. Only a few people have had serious reactions, and I think those girls might have been special cases, because like the other answerer said… all I got was a bruised arm for a few days, and I’m waiting for my third (and final) shot.
I suggest getting it. Its been safe for me, and its a good preventative for one of the most common stds out there. And considering guys can’t be tested for HPV (there is no FDA approved test for men) and can’t tell you that they have it, its a GREAT idea.
