H5N1 Flu aka. Bird Flu hasn’t caused a Global Flu Pandemic yet, because it’s still hasn’t mutated into a Pandemic Strain where human-to-human transmission is as easy as swine flu yet, but once it mutates into that type of strain, Will the Global Bird Flu Pandemic Begin then?

Best Answer: The answer is, I certainly hope not! However, no one can answer your question for sure. The scary thing about the H5N1 strain that is in pandemic form among birds already, is that it seems to be particulary virulent already. Of the humans who have caught it, the mortality rate is staggering. Of the confirmed cases worldwide, there is a 60% mortality rate. It is highly pathogenic. Will the strain keep this virulence? Will it acquire the ability to transfer from human to human more easily? If the answer to both questions is yes, that would be quite horrifying. And just as a point of clarification....Bird flu and swine flue are sort of the same thing (Influenza A viruses which can cause pandemics). But, the short answer is, there is no way to predict what will happen with influenza. We still are pretty ignorant regarding influenza and its properties....there is still a lot we have to learn about influenza in general.....but no one can make a prediction with any sort of certainty, other than to say it is possible.

It is very new that virologists are prophets. No begin is known before it may start. This, however, is not probable.
