Moms, do you have bladder problems after having your baby?

I had my little girl via C-section and it’s been 8 months but I have bladder problems. I have to wear a pantyliner because I leak urine all the time. (tmi sorry, I know it’s gross!) I do kegals all the time but they don’t seem to be doing anything. It’s embarrassing! I am going to see a urologist soon. Will I have to live with this for the rest of my life or does it go away after awhile? It’s been 8 months and nothing has changed!

Best Answer: Women who have c-sections are more likely to complain of problems with urinary and bowel incontinence than women who have vaginal births. http://www.childbirthconnection.org/article.asp?ck=10068. Most women will stop having problems by 6 months postpartum, however, so seeing the urologist, like you mentioned, is a good idea. You may have had damage to your bladder or urinary tract during the surgery. The incidence of urinary incontinence is basically the same for older women though, regardless of whether or not they had children and the method of delivery. This might be because women with serious problems get corrective surgery, however. Hopefully, your urologist will be able to quickly determine what is causing your incontinence and might be able to help you with further surgery. Otherwise, you'll just have to keep doing your kegels every day and see if it gets any better.

You may have a condition called a fistula. It’s a small tear that causes you to leak urine. You should contact your doctor. Kegals won’t help if that is what the problem is.

I have always had a weak bladder but after having two c-sections it has gotten worse.I have noticed it has gotten better a little since my last c-section which was 14 months ago.I’m not sure if it will ever really be better or gone though.

i also have a similar problem, when i sneeze or cough.

you wont have to live with it forever, there are plenty of things that a doctor can do to help with it.

    good luck :)
