We are headed for Ocean City this summer with my tiny two year old. Looking for any and all suggestions for what to pack for her and any other helpful tips. She will just be sleeping in bed with me (me and her in one bed, my mom and gran in the other) and we are renting a stroller down there. I know the basics like clothes, swimsuit, and the bunny she sleeps with. But looking for any other helpful tips. The things I thought of so far: swim diapers, a few childproofing items, inflatable spout cover for bath, sippy cups, her favorite snacks/foods from home, and toddler silverware. Also portable DVD player for the car and the cables to hook it to the TV. We are renting an effeciency, so will have a full kitchen in which to cook. I just want ANY ideas or tips to keep things as smooth as possible with a 2 year old. Thanks!
Tips for a Beach Vacation with a 2 year old?
Best Answer: Sounds like you've got it covered! You are planning ahead, so that is good. Don't forget things like Tylenol/Motrin, Children's Benadryl (in case of insect bites, stings, etc.) and other first aid items. Also, when my daughter was this age, we always took a small inflatable pool with us so that while on the beach, we could put water in it and didn't have to worry about her going into the ocean if she was scared or if the water was not so clean. This kept her occupied for hours on the beach, she just played with her toys and was so content. Of course, your daughter may like the ocean and waves, but I found that until my daughter was older, she preferred to be where she felt safe.Have fun on your trip!

dont force her to go in the water lots of little kids dont like water but you should take her to the store to buy sand toys so you can make a sand castle with her – little kids like that.
have her start sleeping on the blanket you plan to take. if the smell is unfamiliar to her she will not get to sleep and your trip will be ruined. looks like you have just about everything you need. remember the baby suntan lotion.
good luck and have fun!
You also need some SPF50+. She will get really cranky with a sunburn. I would also get some sand toys for her to play with. Kids just love getting dirty in the sand. Oh and a hat to wear while ya’ll are on the beach.(MUST HAVE!!!!) And some beach shoes for the hot sand. I will add more as I come to think of it:)
bring baby powder. It take the mess out of sand. Just sprinkle it on your legs and feet after playing on the beach and the sand brushes right off. It keeps it out of the shoes and car and can be done in a minute if there is a fit being thrown!! We always carry a few dollar toys or happy meal toys to pull out when we eat out and when we can tell the kids are getting restless or board. Good luck and dont forget the camera!

us sunblock
toys
swimmies
fruits
then maybe ask her if she wants to bring any other of her toys just 1 or 2 though
Coloring book and crayons go a looong way! My daughter loves her magna doodle (travel one is like $5 at Wal-mart and they’re perfect size). Bring her blanket and pillow from home as well. I know my daughter was more eager to curl up in bed with me with those when we stayed at a hotel for a few nights. For the most part she should have a blast…just be sure to do a once over of the place you are staying to make sure there is nothing she can hurt herself on/with. Don’t forget the camera, beach toys and sunblock! Most of all…have fun!
i definately agree with water shoes and sand toys..when my daughter was that age i also had one of those little beach tents for kids, it was nice for the shade and when she decided to take a nap on the beach.
