Vaccine against breast cancer
Under magazine of the American Association of Cancer Research, the vaccine even destroyed tumors that were resistant to existing drugs. Its function is to attack breast cancer caused by excess of a protein called HER2 (human receptor for epidermal growth factor). Further, there is no side effects detected.
“The immune response against HER2 positive receptors we saw in this study was very powerful,” says Dr. Wei-Zen Wei, who led the study at Wayne State University.
Anyway, despite the good news, the vaccine is at a very early stage and not yet known whether it will be as effective in humans, although scientists have already developed a similar therapy to be tested in clinical trials.
