What are some reasons to be for abortion?

I personally are AGAINST abortion, it’s murder! But for my R.E class, we are talking about abortion and the religious attitudes to contraception and abortion.

Bad thing is, my teacher just asked the class to write a debate speech on abortion, and she herself has put us into pairs and has chosen whether we are for or against abortion; and we have to write a speech on it. I have to write about being for abortion! Agh, help me out!

    Reasons abortion might be good:

*Rape that happened between two close family members (dad > daughter, even uncle > niece)
*A medical reason where the mom would most certainly die if she was to carry the child
*A medical reason as to where the child would/will/is already dead and has no chance at life.

Those are the only ones I could come up with. Good luck in your search for answers.

An abortion is the termination of a pregnancy by the removal or expulsion of an embryo or fetus from the uterus, resulting in or caused by its death. An abortion can occur spontaneously due to complications during pregnancy or can be induced. Abortion as a term most commonly refers to the induced abortion of a human pregnancy, while spontaneous abortions are usually termed miscarriages.

Abortion has a long history and has been induced by various methods including herbal abortifacients, the use of sharpened tools, physical trauma and other traditional methods. Modern medicine utilizes medications and surgical procedures to induce abortion. The legality, prevalence, and cultural views on abortion vary substantially around the world. In many parts of the world there is a divisive public debate over the ethical and legal aspects of abortion between the pro-life and pro-choice movements.

The most common reasons women consider abortion are:

Birth control (contraceptive) failure. Over half of all women who have an abortion used a contraceptive method during the month they became pregnant.3
Inability to support or care for a child.
    To end an unwanted pregnancy.
To prevent the birth of a child with birth defects or severe medical problems. Such defects are often unknown until routine second-trimester tests are done.
Pregnancy resulting from rape or incest.
Physical or mental conditions that endanger the woman’s health if the pregnancy is continued.

There are some pro-choice web sites out there stating arguments, which you could research.

I think it’s important a woman has a choice. I don’t think it’s right to force a woman to continue through a pregnancy. There are plenty of children in foster care already for those who present that as an alternative. Also when the majority of abortions happen it really is just tiny and barely formed not a baby. It should be legal because people try to do it anyway which can kill them and the baby.

Note that pro-choice people aren’t pro-abortion, so the argument’s a bit silly because I don’t think anybody really suggests abortion be mandatory or recommended in all cases, which is what pro-abortion applies.

Yeah, I don’t agree with it either but..

A life or death situation. The mother might have cancer and her treatment would harm the fetus or continuing the pregnancy would kill her.

There are serious complications with the baby, like deformity’s etc..

    The mother was raped..

I personally would go down the – it’s every woman’s choice, it’s her body and her health. That is why with the proper guidance and regulations no one should have the right to say a woman CAN’T have an abortion, sure we can say that we don’t agree but to say YOU CAN’T is bordering on what China has done with their one child policy…which only leads to women dumping their children or worse waiting until they are born then killing them, that my friends is real murder.

Every woman should have the CHOICE, again you don’t have to agree with it, but ultimately unless it’s your body it really isn’t your decision to make.

That’s a tough one. Well according to our President Barak…if his daughter had made a mistake as teenagers he wouldn’t want them “punished with a baby” yes he said that. I saw it and heard it on a youtube video.

So apparantly, even tho he is a wealthy man, he would prefer his daughters to cut his grandchildren in tiny little pieces with a scapel and dispose of them like pieces of meat.

Uhm Some women feel a child is a burden that they can not handle. They do not want the responsibility. A child is after a lifetime expense.
They prefer not to get a few stretch marks and and flabby stomach?

They don’t want morning sickness and back pain? They don’t want to have to go through the pain of labor? They don’t want the hassel of going through an adoption agency to find a loving home for the baby?
Someone would probably pay all their expenses to have the baby for them….

There’s also the ones who don’t want their parents to find out they have been having sex, because the parents are extrememly critical…so they go to one of those abortion clinics that don’t require you to have parental consent if there is a such thing.
Or the young girls whos parents do not want the responsibility or emberassment so they encourage their daughter to murder their grandchild, like it isn’t a human life.
the boyfriend might encourage the girl to kill the baby as well. but I bet most beg her not to.

Lets see there are the people that don’t believe the fetus is human until it reaches a certain age. Some consider life to begin at birth. I think the people that believe that should be aborted, because they are less human that a fetus. that’s just my opinion.

I think it’s good you’re going to write about it. I had to do a similar assignment in my English class a few years ago. I had to be for prostitution. Anyways I am pro choice so here’s my opinions on the matter.
    1. It would be depriving a woman of her rights if the law or anyone else told her she couldn’t have an abortion.
    2. If the paren’ts don’t want a baby. Not everyone has sex to become a parent. Birth control isn’t 100% effective. I mean people always say, well they shouldn’t be having sex. PLEASE…you are lying if you tell me or anyone else people have sex just to procreate. Not everyone is ready to do this and if you don’t want a child, then abortion is an option. No woman should be obligated to give up her child for adoption. (I’m adopted and want to adopt a child in the future, just so you know I have no problems with adopting children. )
    3. For the mother’s own health
    4. In rape cases.
    5. The mother/father feels they are to young to have a baby.

I’m in college right now and I’d probably have an abortion if I got pregnant because I’m not ready for that and I think it would be hard to give up a baby.

Check out the website below for more information. I hope you realize being pro choice, isn’t pro abortion. It’s simply stating that women have a right to CHOOSE what they want.

I think abortion is a heartless choice that selfish inconsiderate ,irresponsible idiots make.If you are raped there is a morning after pill to keep fertilization and implantation of egg from happeneing leading to pregnancy. So that’s out. However if a pregnancy is discovered that is etopic That is dangerous for mom and baby. But this can be discovered early on.And most of these end in miscarriage. But to just kill an innocent growing being because it isn’t convenient is dispicable. It’s murder that’s fueled by money.Look if they would do something to further educate idiots about pregnancy, instead of being so quick to say pregnant?it’s ok we can fix that, and your parents never need to know is bullsh!t.Bet they don’t tell you how many young girls and woman died from doing just that.I am against it it has become a form of birth control in this country and it’s disgusting.I think if you have more than one abortion that the 2nd one they try to get should result in their female organs being removed.God didn’t give woman that precious ability to bear children for it to end in murder for these innocent children!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I hate everything abortion is !!!!!!!And everyone who thinks it’s no big deal……..What if your mother thought it wasn’t a big deal and you never were?hmmmm

some may say it’s good because (not being funny here) there are so many people in the world already and just to bring more and more just because you Think a young fetus is a valuable thing may not seem right to some.
also, there are millions of babies, children and people of other ages who are already born and no one seems to care about them as much as they do about a fetus that isn’t even developed into what we consider an independently thinking person seems a bit messed up. some may say that instead of focusing on undeveloped potential members of society we should care more about those who are actually alive and suffering.

not saying that’s my opinion. that is just for you on ur project.

my opinion is that a young fetus is not a thing that thinks as you and I do so i don’t think it’s a problem. when the fetus grows and is a young baby it has emotions and characteristics but i don’t think it thinks as clearly as you or i, and lastly a matured or semi-matured human being is different from both. it can think for itself and reason logically which in my opinion makes it a true person. and i think people mistake fetuses and such for matured humans and thus they take a huge stand on protecting them.

It’s an important medical procedure that removes a parasitic organism (embryo/fetus)
I’m adopted (I was a lucky one and got a great family) Not all unwanted kids get families. I also have had an abortion.

I feel there is nothing wrong with abortions, no matter the situation. It’s not fair or responsible for someone who will be an unfit parent to keep a child they can’t support. It’s also not fair to the kid if it’s put up for adoption and doesn’t get a family like so many unwanted/unexpected kids.

I think adoptions are more stressful for a woman than an abortion because with adoption the woman will always KNOW she has kid out there somewhere and wont know anything about their lost child. But with abortion the only thing lost is a potential child.

people should stop getting mad about abortions and try putting that energy into preventing the situation. Get mad at parents and schools for lack of sex education and birth control knowledge.

I find it very amusing that people say abortions are “justified” in certain cases (rape, insect, etc) It’s the same procedure removing the same parasitic organism. The method behind how that embryo/fetus came to be is irrelevant.

Also the argument about “every baby is a blessing from god” etc etc… then by that standard wouldn’t an abortion also be part of “god’s plan”

The fact is that the choice to abort should lie with the individual, afterall your life your body.

Read this article for an insight into why a woman may choose to abort…

Women have the right to make decisions about their own bodies. Fetuses, prior to viability, do not have rights. Therefore, until the fetus is old enough to have rights of its own, the woman’s decision to have an abortion takes precedence over the interests of the fetus. The specific right of a woman to make the decision to terminate her own pregnancy is generally classified as a privacy right implicit in the Ninth and Fourteenth Amendments, but there are other constitutional reasons why a woman has the right to terminate her pregnancy. The Fourth Amendment, for example, specifies that citizens have “the right to be secure in their persons”; the Thirteenth specifies that “{n}either slavery nor involuntary servitude … shall exist in the United States.”

personally if my mom had abortion because she couldnt take care of me I WOULDNT care….. i wasnt born!

I agree about prevention…which is what our president says. I also was a rape crisis counselor that had more than one client say that they would kill themselves if they were forced to carry their rapists baby, and as a survivor myself, I understand that. When will people understand that forcing their morality on other people is unfair, and against the spirit this country was founded on!

WHAT? You have to be for abortion for religion class? o-O
    2 reasons
    *rape
    *possibility of a fatality

*disabilities and being poor are not reasons for an abortion. If you’re poor you shouldn’t be jiggin it up in the first place. If you’re raped and poor I don’t care that you’re poor in that situation. rape is rape and it has seriously damaging after affects that.

I put forward a question in a science forum some months ago which dealt with this subject and which I have not seen previously and to date in the abortion debate. It is of some validity as follows:
Basing this premise on the fact that every human being is inherently born with unique gifts which can be used for the benefit of mankind,,thus
What if Alexander Graham Bell’s (the inventor of the telephone) mother at the time prior to his birth had decided to have an abortion? Would we have the telephone and the internet today as Alexander Graham Bell would not have been born and thus the telephone would not have been invented? Some responded by saying that someone else would have invented the telephone. But how would we be guaranteed that?
I further proposed that with so many abortions performed worldwide what if…..one of those fetuses’ destiny was that s/he would be born with say…the gift of discovering the cure for cancer? By aborting this fetus….we had in fact destroyed the chance to discover that cure….which of course is wholly disasterous to mankind. The same response applied…”oh someone else with this gift would be born”.These were not very convincing responses….especially in view of the fact that it missed the point of the “unique gift”. If “someone else” has this gift…then it would not be unique now would it?

abortion is not murder, as murder is the LEGAL term for when a PERSON UNLAWFULLY KILLS another person.

    1. consent to sex IS NOT consent to motherhood
    2. NOTHING and NO ONE has the right to use another’s body without their consent or against their will. that includes a fetus.
    3. every child should be a wanted child
    4. sometimes an abortion is necessary. examples are ectopic pregnancy or fetal deformity or rape.

I am pro-choice, partly because I feel that the world is overpopulated enough as it is, and adding hundreds if not thousands of additional unwanted babies to the planet every year would not exactly have a positive effect.

I also think it needs to either be legal in all cases, or none. If you make it illegal except in cases of rape, then girls who want abortions will falsely accuse their partners of rape. This wastes the court’s time and money, and is of course also unfair to the men being accused.

And even if you do make it illegal always, women who want abortions will still have them, but they won’t be done safely and under regulated conditions. Keeping abortion legal also keeps it safe.

    Hope that helped.

If I were you I’d right why I was against it and explain to the teacher that there is no logical reason other than the woman’s life being at stake to be in favor of it.

It’s that simple. If she has a problem report her for forcing you to contradict your religious beliefs. She can’t prove what religion you are unless you flaunt it all over. And still you can always say you’re Agnostic like myself and your beliefs are what you make them.

But, to answer you’re question. Some reasons to be in favor of abortion are, you are mentally unbalanced. You take pleasure in killing children. Like many choicers you get sick sexual pleasure out of having abortions, see below link for proof.
Other reasons could include, you support eugenics, which is what Planned Parenthood was founded on also known as one of the guiding principles of the nazis.
And the most basic answer, you don’t care who you have to kill to get what you want you’ll even kill a defenseless child.

The only reason that a woman should have an ab is if she will die before she gives birth. Some one said “interests of the fetus” wtf, interests of the fetus would mean not drinking or smoking not killing it!
The only other reason really is if they live in china what with that 1 child rule. I dont know all the laws but it must be serious.

There is no instance in which abortion is justified. If the mother won’t be able to support the child, then she’s got the difficult choice to make: whether or not to give the child up for adoption. I used to think rape would be an acceptable instance, until a friend of mine opened my eyes. If a man rapes a woman, and she gets pregnant, and the baby is aborted, then the baby is the one that is punished. That’s like a man robbing a bank and another innocent person is punished for it. What we need are harsher penalties for rapists. In the case of ectopic pregnancy (where the embryo implants itself in the Fallopian tube, the morally right thing to do, following the standard of double effect, is to go in with the intention to save both mother and child, and if the child dies then it’s unfortunate, but at least you did not go in with the intention of taking a human life. So really, if you had to pick an instance where it would be acceptable, ectopic pregnancy would be it, but it’s not really, or shouldn’t really be, and abortion. Oh, and as far as I’m concerned, there is no such thing as pro-choice. It’s pro-life, and pro-death. Suck it.
