    hi,

In short IBS is made up primarily of two diseases. Chrons and Ulcerative colitis.

An ulcer, in a broad sense is the perforation of the gut so that the internal and external environment may mix.

Ulcerative colitis is an autoimmune disease (we attack ourselves) that mainly occurs in the colon.

Chrons is also an autoimmune disease that affect the entire gut. It doesn’t usually, but can cause ulcers in the illium and duodenum.

Peptic ulcers are caused by an infection of helicobacter pylori (H. pylori). This is the ulceration of your stomach by the bacteria.
