What can I do for my dog with acid reflux?

My dog has severe acid reflux. I’ve seen vet after vet who’ve all told me there is nothing they can do for her. Someone told me of a natural remedy (Active Manuka Honey). Has anyone ever heard of this, let alone tried it? If there’s any other remedies you’ve heard please let me know. Thank you!

Best Answer: has your dog had an endoscope and an ultrasound done? my dog had the same thing and was diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease. he was on medication for a bit and it is now managed with special foods.

honey is an anti-bacterial, it may work for his reflux, but i read once that the dogs food and water dishes should be put up higher on a stand, so when he eats, he is not bent over, worth a try.

I have a male yellow lab that eats anything and everything. At 8 months he ate a large piece of blanket. He had to have major surgery and took months to get back to normal, food wise. Once he was back eating regular dry food, he began puking when there was too long of a gap between feedings, because he had spent weeks on 3 tsps of a special bland wet food every 2 to 3 hours. I took him back to the vet, she gave him a prescription for a large white pill, not sure of the name, but was told that it was like tums for dogs, only that it works. She also gave me a script for pepcid (human medicine). Also she told me to change his food to something more natural (we now use Nutro products) and something designed for sensative stomachs. She also stated that if the dog wasn’t already eating from a raised dish (which he is), he should be changed to one. Those things have all worked for us. He hasn’t puked in months. Ask the vet about the white pills and whether pepcid would work…ya never know
