Best Answer: I'm not familiar with the term "butterfly femur fx", but it sounds like it's a fx that must have spread the bone apart near the end of the bone, and I'm guessing just above the knee.
The most common cause of chronic pain after an accident is Traumatic Arthritis. This occurs when the fracture is into the joint. The doctor repairs it but It's a little like trying to glue a china plate back together. It's never as smooth as it was.If the fracture is not into the joint, your odds of being pain free are considerably better. Your age is one of the biggest factors, the younger you are, the faster you heal.
