What goes on in your mind when you see commercials for cholesterol-lowering drugs?

I find it oober annoying. seriously, it just shows how lazy we are, since high cholesterol is easily corrected with a diet heavy in fresh veggies and fruit and low in fat and (no brainer) cholesterol.

Nutrition nuts, Does your head explode like mine does when you see cholesterol drug commercials sold to all the lazy people?

Best Answer: It's annoying when people cause their own ailments and do nothing to help themselves, but some people have genetically high cholesterol and no matter the diet they eat, they need something else to assist them in keeping cholesterol down. It's not always because the person is fat or lives an unhealthy life style, give some consideration to the other causes of medical conditions before you shoot off at the mouth.

    Oh yes!
But you know Drs. assume nobody listens and nobody will do the exercise and moderation in diet, worse patients get angry at doctors who say it as is.
So, they just prescribe the darned pills.

I like to think there is a reason why people cannot do it themselves. Such as depression or inability to find the will to change, or simply growing up in a different time.

Yes, the commercials are annoying. But I feel they deserve a break. Everyone should not be down on fat people, drinkers, smokers, that doesn’t make them want to change. Understand their situation. There is always a reason.

Well I do like the responses so far, all about the HIGH stuff. Well what about the LOW stuff that keeps the HIGH stuff in check. Thats the problem here. When a persons body is not able to prudes the LOW stuff to keep the HIGH stuff in check. The BAD stuff will continue to rise rather you exercises or not. I do not care if you run 100 miles and can do 200 sit ups. you miss this link in the production you will have HIGH cholesterol. The doctors prescribe the medications to boost the production LOW stuff to lower the HIGH stuff, so in turn, it is not really about the HIGH stuff as much as it is the LOW stuff. Let me know if i need to put it in medical term.

You are absolutely right. It is amusing to know that real butter and organic ‘free range’ brown eggs in fact contain properties that reduce cholesterol. Many of the commercial foods, claiming to lower cholesterol are in fact not at all healthy, like low fat margarine.

Best diets are as much organic, non processed, natural foods as possible. Vegetables, the darker the better.
