I play soccer a lot now, but a year ago was totally inactive and a smoker. Anyways I know I’ve improved my fitness but I have no idea how good of shape I’m in cardio wise. What is a good test? I’m 26 years old and overweight but not obese…. I run a 10 minuet mile pretty much….
Best Answer: It depends on what kind of equipment you have access to...Most of the tests are simple in nature, but require use of tables and/or equations to determine results. Google such things as:
YMCA Submaximal Bicycle Test
Ross Submaximal Treadmill Protocol
YMCA Submaximal Step Test
McArdle Step Test
The Rockport FItness Walking Test <----the
easiest probably
If you can get on treadmill, a lot of them have "Test" function which allows you to measure your VO2max (max. oxygen uptake) and compare it to norms age groups. It requires heart reate monitor
