I wanna gain some weight, but not fat. And yep, I go to a gym. What food should I eat 1) containing more protein 2) more carbs 3) or more calories? Cause I found out that for example meat contains much protein, but contains a lot of fat at the same time. Fish has protein and little fat, but WILL I GAIN WEIGHT IF I EAT MORE FISH AND DRINK MORE MILK??
Best Answer: Any unused energy is stored as fat or other forms of weight gain. In saying this, you should eat more energy foods: calories is the main one, so over 2000, more carbs, fat. Stay away from cholesterol, trans/saturated fats, sodium. Eat protein and fibre as much as you can. Protein is to restore lean muscle mass while exercising, fibre is to help clean out your system. Eat lean meats, such as extra lean ground beef, lean pork & boneless skinless chicken breast, fish (not breaded)! See your dietitian for more personalized info.

protein is there to help you gain muscle mass and calories of course weight
To increase your weight eat healthy fats include omega-3 essential fatty acids sources like tuna, salmon, flax, and walnuts. Good sources of protein include lean meats, fish, poultry, nuts, seeds and legumes. Healthy carbohydrate sources include fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
Protein powders and nutritional supplement drinks such as Ensure can be added as in-between meal snacks if you still need more calories. Some protein powders are flavored and only need added water and some others can be blended with your choice of juice or milk to improve the taste.
It would also be a healthy idea to add a small amount of flax seed oil and some psyllium powder to add some omega-3 essential fatty acids and extra fiber.

You want protein. Protein shakes are great before a good workout.
Carbs are a plus, but not fatty carbs such as mashed potatoes. Go for a baked potato with a little sour cream instead.
Calories are good as long they’re not empty calories like soda, cakes etc.. Avoid the junk.
Milk is great. If you plan on drinking more than 2 glasses a day, get 2% or less. Whole is fattening, it’s good for ya. But if you plan on drinking a lot, it can be very fattening and defeat the purpose of gaining muscle mass.
Fish is always a plus. Don’t over do the fish though, it’s traditionally a health/diet food, so gaining muscle mass on fish alone ain’t gonna work. Go for chicken, pork, a (small) steak. Turkey burgers..
Next time you go to your gym, ask around. Ask for tips. Those guys and gals know the ins and outs of the trade. They can help you tons.
