I have acid reflux and its pretty bad. I know alcohol is not good, but i am looking for a drink that is better to drink than others with acid reflux, any ideas?
Best Answer: No alcohol is good ! Alcohol causes stomach irritation. And although some people think milk is good for an ulcer , it is in fact an irritant to the stomach .Alcohol consumption should be reduced or avoided because:
Alcohol increases the production of stomach acid.
Alcohol relaxes the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), allowing stomach contents to reflux back up into the esophagus.
When the LES relaxes, it causes swallowing contractions to become erratic.
Alcohol makes the esophagus more sensitive to stomach acid.
Alcohol can lead to the development of peptic ulcers and interfere with the healing of ulcers already present.
So it wise to avoid alcohol at any cost unless you like pain and the chance of stomach cancer

No drink! If you insist, pick something thats not so acidic, like a pina colada, less pineapple more coconut. Or no pineapple for that matter.

Alcohol irritates the stomach lining and increases acid reflux. If you want to heal your stomach and correct the problem, stay away from alcohol and tomatoes and other high acid foods.
If you must drink, eat several pieces of bread and butter first. That will protect your stomach and keep your body from absorbing the alcohol.
Of course, you could order a non-alcoholic drink if you just need to be sociable.
By the way, soda is a major contributor to acid reflux. Drop it. Eat a couple of carrots before bed to give your stomach something to work on while you sleep. DO NOT USE TUMS OR ROLAIDS OR ANY OF THOSE. Consistent use of those aggravates the problem.
