Once I was trying to get to sleep, and I suddenly had a flash in my head, of lots of multicoloured gemmy things, and the image was tied into some idea. But I forgot it straight away :L I was so annoyed, it felt like something really important had dawned on me, and then I’d forgotten it.
But yeah, it was a bit like big multicoloured gems. It’s a bit hard to describe since it wasn’t really physical:P
I can create entire universes in my mind.
Two infinite and yet opposing powers becoming aware, for the first time, of each others existence. Not a visual image but rather a deep and disturbing sensation that take place all at once and seems to be a static moment rather than a sequence of events.
Very powerful and difficult to describe (abstract).
And to your second question, I don’t think there is any special, metaphysical significance we should attribute to mental images that may or may not have a physical world counterpart. For example, the contintental European tradition from Descartes to Heidegger (and a bunch of idealist inbetween) has already both invented and solved that false dilemma. For which we are all very thankful.
But that does not mean that we should completely abandon talking about the interplay between thought and matter. Quite the opposite indeed…
Just as the world creates mind (your birth is an example) so to can mind create world.
History tends to be written by those who best understand that last point.
